JANUARY 28, 2021
the day the buy button disappeared.
At the top of the GameStop squeeze, Robinhood removed the ability to buy GME and a handful of other stocks. You could sell. You could not buy. Retail was forced to one side of the trade while the other side kept trading, and the price collapsed from there.
There were hearings. There were apologies. The button came back days later. Nobody forgot.
ROBINHOOD CHAIN
a buy button nobody can remove.
Robinhood now runs its own chain. This is the buy button on it, as a token. The contract is renounced. There is no pause function, no blacklist, no owner. The only way to stop people buying is to stop the chain.
on every trade goes straight into buying the token back from the pool, automatically. Selling triggers the buy button. The mechanic can't be changed because nobody owns the contract.
